”There’s something intentionally disjointed about the filmmaking. The camera angles are slightly obtuse and ambient sounds are mixed distractingly loud. Hamaguchi deliberately uses such disorienting cinematic devices to evoke the disharmony and inevitable imbalances in man’s relationship to nature.
